In the book, Deep Work, the author, Cal Newport, mentions the 4DX framework which he found in the consulting book, The 4 disciplines of execution.

The 4DX framework consists of four disciplines which help towards executing your most important goals.

Discipline 1: Focus on the wildly important.

Identify a small number of ambitious outcomes to pursue with your deep work hours. A specific goal which will return a tangible and substantial professional benefit to generate a steady stream of enthusiasm.

Discipline 2: Act on lead measures.

We saw this before in my 12-week year review. Lag measures are things you are trying to improve. The problem with this is that it comes in too late to change the behaviour. Instead, focus on lead measures – the things which will drive success on the lag measures.

So in context, this will be time spent in a state of deep work dedicated to your wildly important goal.

Discipline 3: Keep a compelling scoreboard for motivation

You need a public place to record and track your lead measures. The scoreboard creates a sense of competition that drives them to focus on the measures, even when other demands view for their attention.
Example = A tally for the number of deep work hours.

Discipline 4: Create a cadence of accountability

Use a weekly review to look over the scoreboard to celebrate good weeks, help understand what led to bad weeks and figure out how to ensure a good score for the days ahead. Adjust your schedule to meet the needs of the lead measure.

Summary

Executing a strategy is often more difficult than creating the strategy itself. And yet, strategy-forming, or rather, strategy-creating in a way which is effective, industry and audience-specific takes a lot of time, research, platform and marketing knowledge.
